High Ropes

ropes tw and mom small.jpgOne of the years we went to family camp at Wyonegonic where I went as a girl... we completed the high ropes course together and laughed a lot...

We stayed in an open cabin on the same old cots outfitted with plastic mattresses on top of short rusty springs and metal frames.  There were spiders the size of our hands and pine needles everywhere.

Torri darted from Junior, to Intermediate to Senior and back several times each day.  And the second year she passed her swimming test!

Dear World Part One

At first I listened hoping,
my heart to the ground,
to all the loving phrases
now melted into sound.

I read the words wishing
some might permeate
the heavy, dulling fire
that is now my fate.

My eyes searched your faces
still willing to see
another day brighter
with meaning for me.

Even the moon is pregnant
her veil closing in
shadows are darkening
my daughter, my twin.

You felt so apart here
enduring pain alone
even while with others
no one was to know

Since I am your Mother
birthing you to hope
death our only doorway
it is there I will elope.
